The Restriction of Hazardous Substances Directive 2002/95/EC (RoHS), was adopted in February 2003 by the European Union. The RoHS directive took effect on 1 July 2006, and is required to be enforced and become law in each European member state. This directive restricts (with exceptions) the use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various types of electronic and electrical equipment. It is closely linked with the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) 2002/96/EC which sets collection, recycling and recovery targets for electrical goods and is part of a legislative initiative to solve the problem of huge amounts of toxic electronic waste.

REACH is a European regulation on chemicals and their safe use that entered into force in all EU member states on June 1st, 2007. By creating a comprehensive management of chemicals, REACH deals with the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and restriction of Chemical substances and aims to ensure high safety standards for environmental and health risks.
The duty of registration and evaluation applies to all companies which manufacture or import chemicals in the European Union in quantities of one ton or more per year. It also applies to manufacturers of non-chemical commodities when the manufacturer’s products have a total release of chemicals – under normal or reasonably foreseeable conditions – of one ton or more per year. Particularly worrying substances will require special authorization.
ADL Embedded Solutions, Inc. is a manufacturer of embedded computing products. Within the meaning of the REACH regulation, ADL Embedded Solutions, Inc. products are non-chemical in nature and are not subject to registration, evaluation or authorization since, to the best of our knowledge, no chemical substances are released under normal and reasonably foreseeable conditions of use, or their total content does not exceed one ton per year.

ADL Embedded Solutions, Inc. is an owner‐managed company. Compliance with social and ethical values is among the basic principles of our corporate management. ADL Embedded Solutions, Inc. fully supports authorities and industrial associations in their effort to stop the trade in conflict minerals (section 1502 Dodd‐Frank Wall Street reform and Consumer Protection Act).
Our intent is that through careful observation and examination of the supply chain and our vendor relationships, we can ensure that no conflict minerals are purchased or used in the production of our PCB products. However, because ADL Embedded Solutions, Inc. and our immediate suppliers are far removed from the acquisition of raw materials and the subsequent manufacturing of electronic components, it impossible for us and our immediate suppliers to obtain reliable conflict mineral information.

On January 23, 2003, the European community released Directive 2002/95/EC on the restriction of use of hazardous substances (RoHS) in the manufacture of electrical and electronic equipment. This directive was developed to limit the use of key hazardous materials within electrical and electronic products during manufacture, based on information collected regarding collection, treatment, recycling and disposal of waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) as set out in Directive 2002/96/EC of 27 January 2003. The European community established the RoHS Directive to aid the WEEE Directive by restricting the use of, and by defining environmentally tolerable levels of Lead (Pb), Mercury (Hg), Cadmium (Cd), Hexavalent Chromium (Cr 6+), Polybrominated Biphenyls (PBB) and Polybrominated Diphenyl Ethers (PBDE) that may be present in electrical and electronic components. Directive 2002/95/EC mandated that all member states must be RoHS compliant by July 1, 2006.
ADL Embedded Solutions is committed to supporting Directive 2002/95/EC by building our products in compliance with the RoHS guidelines set forth to reduce our impact on the environment.
